Please tell Adam that he didn't gain 12 lbs in 3 days. Anytime you do a tough workout such as an Ironman or a long run like a 20 miler, you will weigh more. This is because of all the micro tears that are in the muscles. That's the same reason you rest and recover. Any time you have tears, you have inflammation and when you have inflammation, you retain water. The bigger the inflammatory process, the more inflammation and the more water retained.
